(this is all the girls from last year’s show 🙂

We had the most wonderful opportunity recently to help create a ‘super fun’ and exciting ‘Business After Hours’ event, which was hosted and catered by Capital City Catering.  LeeAnne and Jonathan, owner’s of Capital City Catering and members of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce hosted the chamber event a few months back (I know, I am WAY behind) ~ they really wanted to showcase their creativity with both food and design…their ‘out-side the box thinking’!  We have all worked together on many events so I was really, really honored that they asked me to come work with them on really giving this event some WOW and bring in our background to compliment their amazing work!

This whole design is a GREAT example of how the design process works with all your vendors at times, we feed off each other, take what someone may mention and run with it.  All of this was all of us working together…knowing what they wanted to highlight and knowing what we could create!

The event took place in the Darla Moore School of Business ~ we went in to this large open space and totally transformed it….photos tell the story, but remember, there are some candids in here as well as lovely shots from All Dressed Up Photography!!  The lovely floral additions are from Something Special Florist. Rentals by Plametto Party Rental!!

This is of course, LeeAnne and Jonathan before we got started that evening behind them is the lovely creation of the Lo Mein Station.

So…here we go….this is the before shot of where the Lo Mein Station went~

And this is how it turned out 🙂  We had the best time creating this…so neat, fun and AMAZING if I may say!

Here is the close up of their sushi display…and in the background you can see the ‘Sliders Station’

Okay- next stop, the bar area….before

…and after.  This is Capital City Caterings signature lighted bar (it is available for rental through them).  The back bar is a BIO item.

Another angle…

So- look carefully, this is two angles of the room (opposite ends) and the last photo is a panoramic of the room just before we got done with set up-

I know, odd shot but you can begin to see the changes and additions…

Before shot of the milk and cookies station….

After shot…now THIS was a milk and cookies station- AWESOME!

Nice professional shot of it-again….words can not tell you how amazing this turned out.

Detail shot of the ‘Artist Slider Station’ – we really took this theme to heart 🙂

more details of the ‘Artist Slider Station’

…and more – we loved the touches we added in with the paints, cans, brushes and canvas overlays…also don’t over look the ‘frame  place mats’.

And finally, one of my favorites, the smores station!  Way, way too much fun!  This is the first idea I ran with when we began and it really pleased me with how it turned out.

It is now official – By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design has a new home.  We have moved in to our new home at the gorgeous Historic 701 Whaley Building.  We love the new space, it is fabulous!!  We share the beautiful Gallery 104 with the ultra talented All Dressed Up Photography, owner Brantley Freeman.

She has dressed the walls with amazing examples of her work- we have created such an inviting space to meet and plan your weddings and events…let the fun begin.

We had a drop in Tuesday evening for our friends, families and fellow wedding vendors.  Capital City Catering brought their gorgeous ‘Palmetto Fruit Tree’, Asian spoons, Key Lime tarts and Raspberry treats-SO YUM.  Applause Catering created my favorite cucumber and tomato sandwiches and their famous pimento cheese dip with pita chips- THANK YOU does not express my gratitude for their kindness and generosity for making their wonderful items!!!

Thank you so much to my wonderful mother- she never does anything half way and I owe my attention to detail and dedication to my work to her!  She inspires me daily. I want to thank my lovely Aunt Ruth- she made a family tradition – her guarded secret recipe of ‘Southern Comfort Punch’ and as always, it was a smashing hit! Thank you to my family for all of their support, encouragement and love- with out them I would never have achieved success.  Jill- thank you so much for always helping and being dedicated to our company!

And most important- thank you to my most amazing husband, Darren.  He has been by my side each day from the very beginning of this adventure.  My life would not be complete without him and his encouraging words and support. He motivates me when I need it and keeps me grounded when I am sky high! He is my rock, my other half…thank you for being my everything!

Just a shot of the space.

Good morning-from MarthaStewart.com when you search for wedding information and vendors in your local region.Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

I just wanted to share a little bit of wonderful news with all our friends that support us and believe in us.  By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design has been a member of WeddingWire.com for some time now- this website is the official link

We learned last evening that WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. .

We are so honored and excited that our clients selected us to receive this award and look forward to another incredible year of planning weddings and events!

Thank you!!

Good day-

Believe it or not, when I am not working events I actually do have a ‘favorite past time’.  I have been riding horses for almost 21 years now and hope I always have the opportunity.  It is not only a hobby but a love!

Over the years, I have met some many wonderful people in the equestrian world – many long lasting friendships.  As long as I can remember, I have been a member of a wonderful organization that promotes horsemanship to youth and adults alike.  A few years back, I was invited to join the board of South Carolina Dressage and Combined Training(SCDCTA) organization.

Each year we have an awards banquet that celebrates the accomplishments of those actively competing in horse shows in the state of South Carolina.  This year we had this banquet at The Windermere Club.

We always have the best time- we have a lovely dinner, awards presentation and silent auction to benefit our non- profit organization.  Thank you to all those that donated items to the event itself and the auction.  Cake was by Carol Sturkie- Parties to Go, Flowers by Think Floral.

Below are just a few images of the event itself.
