It is now official – By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design has a new home. We have moved in to our new home at the gorgeous Historic 701 Whaley Building. We love the new space, it is fabulous!! We share the beautiful Gallery 104 with the ultra talented All Dressed Up Photography, owner Brantley Freeman.
She has dressed the walls with amazing examples of her work- we have created such an inviting space to meet and plan your weddings and events…let the fun begin.
We had a drop in Tuesday evening for our friends, families and fellow wedding vendors. Capital City Catering brought their gorgeous ‘Palmetto Fruit Tree’, Asian spoons, Key Lime tarts and Raspberry treats-SO YUM. Applause Catering created my favorite cucumber and tomato sandwiches and their famous pimento cheese dip with pita chips- THANK YOU does not express my gratitude for their kindness and generosity for making their wonderful items!!!
Thank you so much to my wonderful mother- she never does anything half way and I owe my attention to detail and dedication to my work to her! She inspires me daily. I want to thank my lovely Aunt Ruth- she made a family tradition – her guarded secret recipe of ’Southern Comfort Punch’ and as always, it was a smashing hit! Thank you to my family for all of their support, encouragement and love- with out them I would never have achieved success. Jill- thank you so much for always helping and being dedicated to our company!
And most important- thank you to my most amazing husband, Darren. He has been by my side each day from the very beginning of this adventure. My life would not be complete without him and his encouraging words and support. He motivates me when I need it and keeps me grounded when I am sky high! He is my rock, my other half…thank you for being my everything!

Good morning-from MarthaStewart.com when you search for wedding information and vendors in your local region.Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.
I just wanted to share a little bit of wonderful news with all our friends that support us and believe in us. By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design has been a member of WeddingWire.com for some time now- this website is the official link
We learned last evening that WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!
In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. .
We are so honored and excited that our clients selected us to receive this award and look forward to another incredible year of planning weddings and events!
Thank you!!
Good day-
Believe it or not, when I am not working events I actually do have a ‘favorite past time’. I have been riding horses for almost 21 years now and hope I always have the opportunity. It is not only a hobby but a love!
Over the years, I have met some many wonderful people in the equestrian world – many long lasting friendships. As long as I can remember, I have been a member of a wonderful organization that promotes horsemanship to youth and adults alike. A few years back, I was invited to join the board of South Carolina Dressage and Combined Training(SCDCTA) organization.
Each year we have an awards banquet that celebrates the accomplishments of those actively competing in horse shows in the state of South Carolina. This year we had this banquet at The Windermere Club.
We always have the best time- we have a lovely dinner, awards presentation and silent auction to benefit our non- profit organization. Thank you to all those that donated items to the event itself and the auction. Cake was by Carol Sturkie- Parties to Go, Flowers by Think Floral.
Below are just a few images of the event itself.

These are the raffle items we had for the evening.

Our amazing cake by Carol Sturkie- Parties to Go

Our set table- colors were blue and gold – I love the centerpieces made out of donated horseshoes.

We set up a mannequin with dressage and eventing attire and saddles as decor for the event.

Hope to see you there!
I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight!!!!
Well-a long time ago, Leslie made a wish one night, and after many months and hurdles, now she has been blessed…she and Pete are expecting!!!
For a little tiny bit of history – this group of girls met through a very fun web site, theknot.com! We were all planning our very own weddings and chatting on the local message boards. Little did we realize that this search for comfort with other brides stressing over the details would turn into an everlasting friendship and family!! Leslie and I have the opportunity to work together a bunch, she is owner and designer of Southern Stems so not only do we have this friendship, but we get to have loads of fun doing weddings.
Leslie and Pete have been through a lot on their journey to this point so we all were beyond thrilled when she shared the news with us- many tears were shed, lots of giggles and then we began to plan, come on, I am an event planner….
On our annual beach trip this year of the girls, we decided to throw a little ’suprise’ baby show – and I have to say, we pulled it off pretty good!!
To set the tone- Leslie, well all of us, are HUGE Tiffany and Co. fans, I mean huge- her wedding colors were Tiffany blue and white- so as you can see, we had to follow suite.
Please keep in mind, we wanted a relaxing, girls have fun shower, so no, we are not dressed up and eating tea sandwiches, we are resting at the beach and have a surprise baby show all at the same time!
Of course we had to have a couple of games- it is a shower!!! The girls hard at work on nursery rhymes
The cute gifts and of course, the perfect cake with the ‘Tiffany rattle’ on top- this was made by the most wonderful lady at Lady Finger Confections in Charleston!!!!
We all unanimously decided that the gift to give for such the occasion was of course the real “Tiffany and Co.” silver baby rattle- yep, we made her cry!!!
Here we all are for our dinner out at Blossom’s – we had the best time!
Not with Rebecca and Patrick! I was very lucky to be able to attend Rebecca and Patrick’s engagement photo session this past Sunday. The are just too much fun for words, honestly – I can not wait until their wedding in September- we are going to ROCK Columbia! The emotion and excitement between the two of them is almost tangible!!!!
They picked one of the most amazing photographers I have ever had the pleasure of working with- Ruth Rackley. Her work is beyond words and her personality is even better – she is a fireball and is able to capture what is going on between these two- you can just see it come to life.
Check back in September catch a few images for this incredible event they are planning- WOW is all I can say!
