(This wedding/post by Jill Areheart)
Andrea and Jamel were a fabulous couple to work with. Andrea told me in our first meeting that she is a control freak. She had a vision for every detail of her day and wanted to make absolutely sure everything would be as she wanted. I was so happy that she trusted us…I know it wasn’t easy for her! But I wanted most of all for she and her mom to be able to let go and just enjoy the day. As you can see from the pictures of Andrea hula-hooping on the dance floor, she was able to relax and have a great time!
The wedding was in the Garden at Canal & Senate with the reception in the Hall. We draped the existing outside structure for the ceremony with fabric to soften it and make it really special. Southern Stems did the flowers. And Andrea and her mom made beautiful program fans.
For the reception, Andrea wanted bright chartreuse accents to offset the beautiful wine colored bridesmaid’s dresses and linens. The green lanterns we hung and the flowers by Southern Stems really brought out the accent color to pull the whole room together. Plants with uplighting from Bunch Gardens added just the right touch.
Dupre Catering did a fabulous job with the food, incorporating many of Andrea’s favorite recipes. The cake was from Publix in the Vista, and each tier had a different yummy filling. And since I included the picture on Andrea on the dance floor, I couldn’t resist one of the guys doing Michael Jackson! Atlantic Entertainment provided the DJ services and kept people dancing all night.
Here are a few candid photos:

We had the wonderful pleasure of working with a couple and family this weekend that just wowed us with their traditions, hospitality, and love!
I was contacted by Rupi’s [the groom] parents who live here in Columbia. They wanted to host a reception for their son and his new wife once they returned from their wedding ceremony in Canada. The couple got married in Calgary a week a week ago and made it down to South Carolina for the festivities to continue with an exquisite reception held at the Columbia Convention Center.
I was only able to meet Rupi and Rohini one time before the event due to living out of state and their extremely busy schedules. I did get to work closely with their parents and we shared many emails and phone calls to get all the details in order just as they desired.
The reception was so lovely- guests arrived at the Convention Center for cocktails and hor dourves, made by Bombay Indian Grill out of Charlotte. They were warmly greeted by the families of the bride and groom. Guest were later invited into the ballroom that was filled with color and beautiful sounds. The families of the couple were introduced followed by Rupi and Rohini.
After the couple cut the beautiful cake created by Angi Anderson, the couple took their place on the stage. At this point, friends and family members of the couple gave heartfelt speeches about this amazing couple. At the conclusion of the speeches, the couple took the dance floor for a gorgeous first dance- this was followed by an invitation to all guest to join them on the dance floor…and they did!!! It was amazing!
Dinner was created by Bombay Indian Grill as well- the display was gorgeous and food was so amazing- I did have try everything
Music was provided by DJ Jaz, GTB Productions - it was so wonderful.
The beautiful flowers were created by Think Floral. Lighting by Aspire 4 More.

What an amazing weekend By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design had! Two very lovely weddings, two VERY busy planners!
The wedding we did was so amazing and it truly was a ‘wedding reunion’ for many of us
Luke and Laura came to us to help them design, create and pull a beautiful wedding together so that they could enjoy EVERY minute of their day with family and friends.
Working with mother of the bride, Lisa, was wonderful- I truly felt like one of her daughters Satruday- I shared tears with her. They wanted a FUN event with loads of charm and elegance. This summer wedding was bright and cheery with all the romance and sophistication you can handle.
When I talk about the wedding reunion- I am speaking of past couples whose weddings we planned. There were 2 of our fabulous couples there in attendance – it was great!!!!
Luke and Laura picked Saluda Shoals for their reception – this venue’s soft pine palette was perfect for the colors the couple used, rich navy and fern green. These colors were topped by the beautiful flowers created by Something Special Florist. The sunflowers just make it perfect- summer love!
For set up- we had a mix of rounds and fabulous square tables- this makes for a wonderful floor plan. The mix of low and tall centerpieces were the icing on the cake…and speaking of icing on the cake- Connie White, baker and friend of the family, created the wedding cake matching the lovely navy adding the couples monogram.
Luke is a HUGE golf fan/player – so as an added personal touch, Laura created the BEST and most UNIQUE entry centerpiece – GOLF CLUBS!!!! It was beyond perfect and a huge hit. The grass reeds matched the cat tails reeds out front of Saluda Shoals- again- just perfect. What was so great was when all the groomsmen processed down the aisle, they gave Luke a golf ball with their hand shake- at one point I saw one come out of his hand, hit the floor and bounce twice- it was so funny and a memorable moment, Laura and I shared a great giggle.
The reception was perfect- the bridal party entered classically up until they hit the dance floor then the ‘groove’ was on!!! I have never seen such dance moves-they were so much fun. After that- the party went into high gear and we had a blast!
Dave Gilbert, owner of Partytime DJ, kept this crowd going all night- they were all ‘dancing queens’.
The food was, as always, perfect and amazing- Applause Catering handled all the details and no detail was left out! I got to have my all time favorite of theirs (well one of my favorites) the cucumber and tomato sandwiches. Now I need to get my other favorite soon- you have to try the BLT dip!!!
We had a great time working with friends and colleagues, Clark and Becki Berry!! We are looking forward to seeing the images soon!
Greenery provided by Bunch Gardens.
Here are a few photos -as always, remember these are candid shots!!!

We used square vases filled with river rock and floating candles to tie it all together.

This blog is dedicated to Candice – chin up, your wedding is going to be every dream you have ever dreamed come to life. It will be amazingly beautiful just as you are….
“Perfect” is exactly what I called this day….Natalie and Bud had such a moving and memorable day- we were so thrilled to be able to help bring it all to life and build such a wonderful relationship with them.
The couple knew they were going to have a full attendance so they decided to have both ceremony and reception at the Columbia Conference Center. Ceremony was held in the front salon. When Natalie and I met, we discussed really ‘transforming’ the room – making it softer and romantic. We brought many ideas to the table and when we put it all together, they were moved by the outcome.
The reception was in the large full ballroom of the Conference Center. We totally transformed it into an elegant, romantic setting for an absolutely wonderful dinner. The couple decided on a full bridal party head table on the stage area- so we suggested the soft pipe and drape behind it. We then suggested one more fabulous element- the monogram gobo light that was illuminated on the back fabric- it was just beautiful.
The tables were dressed with soft ivory linens with matching chair covers- the sashes were a soft latte color with a gold cross pattern. This gold went beautifully with the gold charges. To ‘crown’ the table, elegant calla lily center pieces were created by the bride’s cousin.
Guests seating cards and table number cards were adorned with calla silhouettes, created by Graphically Inclined Design. This perfectly matched the ultra elegant invitations and programs.
The Columbia Conference Center went above and beyond- the food was fabulous, they were just wonderful to work with! Thank you Janice, DeeDee and your amazing staff.
The beautiful pipe and drape, lighting, and monogram were from the talented Tony Sharpe, Aspire 4 More.
Here are a few photos- sadly I don’t have more of this lovely wedding….
Here is the salon before we began setting the ceremony.

And here it is after- we brought in a stage, covered the stage with white fabric and then soft flowing fabric behind the stage with warm up-lighting.

Ceremony…

Tried to get a room shot – but I am not a photographer

Here is a shot back at the head table and you can see the monogram- it looks a little purple in this photo but it wasn’t!!

Table close up.

And then the stunning cake by Gardenia’s in West Columbia, created by Desmond Pringle.
